“Write like it matters, and it will.” -Libba Bray
I am using this website as a portfolio of my writing and other projects I do as I embark on my journey to becoming a journalist.
As a natural storyteller, I am searching for my dream job.
I am a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University majoring in journalism with a minor in interdisciplinary studies.
Here’s what I’ve been up to.
Since I started at FGCU in Fall 2015, I have written a lot of different things in a lot of different styles. Practice makes perfect, and that’s my goal.
Over the summer of 2016, I interned at a small weekly newspaper, called the Gilchrist County Journal, where I wrote weekly stories, pitched story ideas, attended bi-weekly school board meetings and worked with InDesign to layout the newspaper’s pages.
Over the summer of 2017, I interned at a start-up company in Fort Myers called HelloSWFL. This was a great experience for me as I was able to explore my creativity throughout the summer. During my internship, I acquired many new skills like being on camera and video editing on Adobe Premiere and After Effects. As well as experimenting and using new equipment to tell stories, like GoPros and 360 cameras.
After interning at HelloSWFL for three months, I was offered a job and now work there as a Multimedia Journalist while finishing school. I now shoot, edit, write and create social media content for every story I work on.
I like to adventure with my friends. I specialize in day trips because fancy vacations aren’t necessarily in a college student budget. I have a deep compassion for animals and that’s why I don’t eat them.
Not only is studying and writing about animals a hobby and a passion, it is also my dream job.
Honestly, I’m just an average girl, trying to see the world and tell its stories.
All of my journeys are taking me somewhere. I’ll keep you updated.
